TRUE CLASSIC
Qupanuaq (“COPE-an-walk”) is a tough, elegant, dependable, and adorable sailboat. One of the originals of the big lake’s pleasure sailing fleet, her history includes at least two Commissioner’s
Cup victories.
SAFE AND FRIENDLY HANDLING
This classic little boat is as rugged as she is beautiful. Her hull is essentially a blue-water design, built for ocean crossings, but her shallow draft makes her feel at home on smaller lakes. Her graceful, traditional lines and full keel give her an easy, confident motion in rough water and the feel of a far bigger boat. Beginners and families will find her forgiving and comfortable, yet the seasoned old salts will still find satisfaction and excitement in her performance. Qupanuaq will sleep two comfortably (four in a pinch) and is perfect for weekend sails. Her spacious, self-bailing cockpit will accommodate four comfortably for a day sail. The cockpit is protected by a removable canvas dodger (2014) and features a small propane BBQ mounted on the stern rail.
EASY TO LAUNCH
At 3,200 lbs displacement, she can be trailered in or out by two people and towed by most medium-duty vehicles. Her price includes a recently refurbished and reinforced custom-built trailer with extendable hitch that fits a 2” ball.
A COMPETITIVE RACER
Qupanuaq’s handicap means she has placed well in the past, and many local skippers have spoken
highly of her race history. With the autohelm and running rigging led aft, she’s easy to manage single-
handed for the solo competitor, but with a crew of three, she has been a serious threat.
LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME
The present owner has enjoyed Qupanuaq since 2007 and recognizes that this gorgeous boat needs
to be sailed more often by a keen skipper. Although she could use some cosmetic work, she is in
fine sailing condition.

- A Honda 5-horse, 4-stroke outboard is reliable, clean, and very easy on gas.

NAVIGATION EXTRAS
- An autohelm self-steering unit makes single-handing a breeze.
- A Raymarine depth sounder is installed in the cockpit.
- A small, removable chart table is fitted in the saloon.
ELECTRICAL
The electrics are powered by a marine battery (charger included), a charge controller to prevent
overcharging from a rugged solar panel which manages to keep up to daytime use.
CREATURE COMFORTS
- AM/FM/CD player and marine speakers are mounted in the saloon
- A small sink (currently disabled) is installed
- A single-burner gas camp stove is mounted on a gimbal inside the aft bulkhead.
- A small porta-potty is included
- Basic camping / cooking gear is part of the package
LOVE ME TENDER
The inflatable Walker Bay Odyssey dinghy (2014) comes with oars and a towing bridle and will mount
up to an 8-hp outboard. Whether you’re rowing out to your mooring (currently located at the Great
Slave Sailing Club mooring field), searching the shallows for pike or going ashore in search of berries,
this inflatable is ideal.
